🧡 The Recipe:

Sweet Potato Casserole with Pecan Topping

We love this recipe because it strikes the perfect balance—it’s sweet, creamy, and topped with a delightful, crunchy pecan streusel. It’s the ultimate comfort food!

Ingredients

Casserole Base

1 (29 oz) can Yams (or fresh peeled, cubed, and cooked)

3/4 cup Sugar

1/4 cup Brown Sugar

1 stick Butter (softened)

1 tsp. Cinnamon

1 1/2 tsp. Vanilla

Pecan Topping

1/2 stick Butter (melted)

3/4 cup Brown Sugar

1/2 cup chopped Pecans

Instructions

  1. Prep the Yams: Heat the yams (or cooked sweet potatoes) in the microwave until they are hot, then drain any liquid well.

  2. Mash: Mash the hot yams with the softened butter until smooth.

  3. Mix: Add the sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and slightly beaten eggs to the mashed yams. Mix everything together thoroughly.

  4. Prepare for Baking: Pour the mixture into a greased casserole dish, spreading it out evenly.

  5. Make the Topping: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and chopped pecans. Mix well.

  6. Top and Bake: Sprinkle the pecan topping evenly over the sweet potato mixture. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 to 45 minutes, or until the center is set and the topping is bubbly.

Our Family Tip: This recipe is easily doubled for a larger crowd! Just be sure to use a baking dish large enough to keep the batter depth at no more than about ¾ inch—this is the secret to even baking and that perfect texture!
