This series is packed full of information and advice on how to make your house feel more like YOUR home.
If you’re interested in learning more about the previous trends, you can find them here.
Without further ado, let’s get into the hit color trends of 2022!
Trending Colors
As you know, trends change with the seasons, but who has the energy to keep up with them?
Painting is a daunting and time consuming task that not many are willing to commit to because of a new trend. Still, you may be looking for a refresh and don’t know where to start.
Lucky for you, we’ve done the legwork to get in contact with paint color experts to see exactly what colors are hottest in 2022.
Two of the top trending colors are both in the gray color families, but each expresses drastically different tones.
You probably won’t be surprised by this because these colors have made there mark for so long, they’ll soon be considered classics!
Repose Gray
If you want calm, cool, and collected, then Repose Gray is your color!
This color is on the cooler side, which means it has more green and blue undertones.
Pair Repose Gray with cool whites to bring out the blue, or a minty green to draw a unique hue.
Take note though, this color does not tend to couple well with reds and pinks!
Agreeable Gray
Switching gears into the next color, Agreeable Gray is the warm neutral that everyone wants to incorporate into their space.
This color screams versatility through the many hues it can pick up.
Make the color really pop by pairing it with either a bold, saturated color, or something with depth, like a dark navy.
While Agreeable Gray can be paired with nearly any color in the rainbow, we do recommend steering clear of yellows.
This can wash out the depth of Agreeable Gray, thus losing that warm, greige tone.
Evergreen Fog
Finally, our personal favorite, Sherwin Williams 2022 Color of the Year, Evergreen Fog!
This dusty green gives us all the dreamy vibes, but packs a punch in terms of a statement color.
It’s not too overpowering to be a primary room color, but can also hold its own as an accent wall color!
This color pairs especially well with wood grains and other natural textures like leather and plaster.
Evergreen Fog is appealing for someone who wants rustic influences, a modern touch, and everything in between.
These Colors in Your Home
Now that we’ve talked about the trending paint colors, you’re probably chomping at the bit to break out the paint rollers and hit up the paint store.
We urge you to pump the brakes and start by picking a few paint color samples to take home and tape on your walls.
The reason we recommend taking a few of your favorite samples home is because the paint color can change drastically based on the lighting in the room and the way light may be coming in through the windows!
It can be hard to determine a true color under fluorescent lights surrounded by hundreds of other colors and their reflections.
The easiest way to get a true visual of what the color may look like on the walls in your house, is to put it in your house!
Tape it to a wall and take a look throughout the day to get an idea of what it’ll look like in morning light all the way into the evening.
Bonus tip: If you want to take it one step further, get an actual paint sample and paint a small section to get the most accurate look!
We want to know your thoughts on these paint colors!
